UKBI 0-7 rarity scale 7
|
Effectively an unique item; either no other example exists or is thought to exist - a level of rarity generally restricted to important presentation or association copies of the work in question
|
The appropriate rarity scale level of an individual book is determined by the results of a search through millions of books offered for sale by thousands of booksellers worldwide to establish how many other examples of the same work are also being offered for sale at the same time.
Important note: The UKBI rarity scale does not place a monetary value on any old book; it simply shows how many other copies of the same work are recorded as being for sale worldwide. Potential purchasers can then use that figure to assess the likely short- or long-term difficulty, or otherwise, of finding another example of the same item for sale elsewhere.
The value of any old book to a prospective purchaser is a more subjective matter. Rarity on the marketplace certainly plays a part but it is not the only determining factor.

Booksellers may use this scale in their own books-for-sale listings having researched the appropriate rarity scale level to apply to any selected title at used.Addall.com. However, they must use the form of wording UKBI Rarity Scale x (where 'x' is the appropriate level) and provide a link to this www.Clique.co.uk/ukbi-rarityscale.htm webpage.
